We use only certified playground mulch, and ensure depth meets all safety requirements.

MulchMan spreads North Carolina Long Leaf Pine Straw on residential and commercial properties.  We use large, clean straw bales; provide pine straw spreading in natural areas, edge tucking, and clean up; edge around plant beds; and if needed, remove old material prior to new installations. MulchMan will come to your residence, measure your area, and give you an accurate estimate. Typically one bale of straw covers 50-65 square feet.
Mulchman’s Compost Top Dressing for lawns provides an organic program to bring your lawn to it’s healthiest potential. We start with Core Aeration, doing multiple passes with our aerator to provide the best root growth and compost penetration possible.  Next, we Seed with only the highest grade Tall Fescue grass.  We then provide a Lawn Top Dressing, using only certified compost that is specifically made for lawn topdresssing.  The compost is applied at a depth of 1/4″ to 1/2″ for best results.

There is more to your yard than just the grass, and it all counts towards the curb appeal of your home. MulchMan provides a variety of yard cleanup services.

Sod Installation for Raleigh, Durham & Chapel Hill

MulchMan provides Sod installation for 5 different types of palletized sod at extremely competitive prices!  Each pallet contains 450 square feet of sod.  Click below to see our Sod varieties and prices.

Sod Installation

  • Confederate Fescue Sod ($160 per pallet) A cool season species that is heat and drought tolerant, disease resistant, and minimal care.  Fescue may need to be reseeded each year due to summer heat and drought excesses.  Fescue also has a tendency to bunch as a growth pattern.
  • Hybrid Bermuda Sod ($160 per pallet) A warm season grass that is typically fine textured.  Bemuda sod spreads easily and can sometimes be hard to control.  Bermuda sod does excellent with 8 – 10hrs. of direct sunlight, but not so well in shade.  It has very good heat and drought tolerance.
  • Common Centipede Sod ($160 per pallet) A warm season grass that is slow growing and coursely textured.  Centipede sod is usually used in low maintenance  areas.  It needs minimal mowing and fertilizing, but does not do well with high traffic or shade.
  • Compadre Zoysia Sod ($195 per pallet) A warm season grass that spreads well.  Zoysia is considered wear resistant and grows well in the Piedmont and Eastern Coastal Plain of North Carolina.  Zoysia sod is sometimes confused with Bermuda sod but has more course and upright leaf blades.
  • Raleigh St. Augustine Sod ($220 per pallet)  A warm season grass that does not do as well in cooler temperatures, but is the most shade tolerant of warm season grasses.  St. Augustine sod is dark green in color and has a course leaf texture.  It does very well in warm humid areas and was designed specifically for our area.

Delivery Fees for 1 to 5 pallets are $75, and free for 6 pallets and up.  Note that we do not do Delivery Only.
